SHAKESPEARE IN CLARK PARK YOUTH AND FAMILY WORKSHOPS

By engaging kids in the world of Shakespeare and the creation of theatre, SCP workshops are a perfect complement to a family trip to the park to see this year’s production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Workshop fee: $20
Workshops are presented in collaboration with the University City Arts League, located at 4226 Spruce Street, and are led by SCP Education Coordinator Jess Conda. Jess has taught Shakespeare and creative dramatics all over the Delaware Valley, and is a frequent SCP performer.
Workshops will be held on Saturday, July 31st.

Family Workshop
6-9 year olds and parents
10:00am-11:30am
In this unique family experience, students and parents explore storytelling and creative play with their bodies, voices and imaginations. Using music, movement and simple text, families will develop a better appreciation for performance energy and theatricality, while celebrating the art of collaboration. Note: $20 fee is per student. One parent or guardian per student may attend for free.

Will’s Words
10-13 year olds
12:00pm-2:00pm
Utilizing the process of professional actors, students will engage in a series of fast-paced and exciting exercises exploring techniques in storytelling. Emphasis will be placed on understanding Shakespeare's language: what it means, how it relates to our lives today, and how to make the language come to life onstage. Themes from A Midsummer Night's Dream will be explored as students create their own original scenes, culminating in a short showing at the end of the workshop.
