Created in collaboration with Revolution Shakespeare, this actor-driven adaptation is conceived by Revolution Shakespeare’s Artistic Director Tai Verley alongside Barrymore-nominated performer and acclaimed Shakespeare artist Cassandra Alexander, who will also perform. Directed by SCP Producing Artistic Director Shamus, the production foregrounds transformation, theatricality, and the thrilling immediacy of live performance, with actors shifting roles and perspectives in real time.

MEET THE ARTISTS
Tai Verley (she/her) is a NYC-born, Philadelphia-settled multifaceted actor, director, artist. Select Acting Credits include: The Snowy Day and Treasure Island (Arden Theatre Company), Our Town (New Light Theatre), Saint Joan (Delaware Theatre Company), Pericles (Shakespeare in Clark Park), Romeo & Juliet, The Merchant of Venice and Twelfth Night O Lo Que Quieras (Delaware Shakespeare), and Iphigenia at Aulis (Philadelphia Artists’ Collective). In addition to being an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania, she has been the Producing Artistic Director of Revolution Shakespeare (also known as RevShakes) since 2019, redirecting the company towards a mission that embraces classical adaptation and bold self-expression and inclusion. This cut of HAMLET is her fourth Shakespeare adaptation experiment with Cassie Alexander, whose brain, heart and joie-de-vivre allow for every script they touch to be imbued with such studied care, deep laughter and sincere love.

Cassandra (Cassie) Alexander is a Barrymore-Nominated actor and proud West Philadelphia resident delighted to be making her SCP debut with this fantastic ensemble of collaborators. Her credits include performances with the Philadelphia Artists’ Collective, Delaware Shakespeare, Revolution Shakespeare, New Light Theatre, Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival, and many more. Favorite credits include Madeline (Inheritors), Hermione/Autolycus (The Winter’s Tale), Liza (Children of the Sun), Imogen (Cymbeline), and Child Jane/Adele (Jane Eyre). Cassie holds degrees in Theatre & Drama and Arts Management from Indiana University, although her love of classical theatre blossomed while studying abroad at Shakespeare's Globe in London. She sends endless love and gratitude to Tai Verley for this opportunity to return to Elsinore and co-create theatre magic – what a gift to shape yet another Shakespeare adaptation with a beloved friend!
Shamus (he/him) is a Queer theatre maker focused on new works and musical theatre. He currently serves as Producing Director of NYC’s Bold Proposal and Producing Artistic Director of Philadelphia’s Shakespeare in Clark Park where he was honored with the 2025 Barrymore Award for Outstanding Outdoor Production as Director and Producer of J.C. Pankratz’s All’s Well. He directed the Barrymore Award Nominated Two Gentlemen of Verona the musical, produced the Barrymore Nominated As You Like It and commissioned & directed original adaptations including A Bottom’s Dream and Comedy of Errors: Real Housewives of Ephesus all with SCP. He is co-creator of the original musical Close Your Legs, Honey and a Founding Company Member of physical theatre company Die-Cast. He has developed work with Philadelphia Theatre Company, Playwright's Center, PlayPenn, Boston Playwrights' Theatre, Cannonball, PrideFest at the Tank, Samuel French OOB Festival & others. Shamus earned his MFA in Directing from Boston University and serves on faculty at Rutgers-Camden where he has directed Urinetown, Machinal & Little Women. www.justshamus.com @mononynous_shamus
